Did you know that your skin is your body’s largest organ? At some point in our lives, we all have trouble with our skin.
Let’s take a few minutes to remind ourselves of things we can do to help keep our skin looking and feeling its best:
Chill Out
- Put your feet up and manage your stress!
- Stress makes your skin break out and can make skin conditions much worse.
- Make sure you get enough sleep: between 7 and 9 hours a day.
Drink Water Daily
- Hydrating your entire body by drinking 8 glasses of water daily is another great way to moisturize your skin.
- Water clears out the dangerous toxins that hurt your skin.
- Add lemons and other fruit to make your daily drinks even more refreshing.
- If plain water is boring, try adding cucumbers as well.
Exercise Regularly
- Exercise helps increase blood flow, drawing oxygen into and free radicals away from the skin.
- Exercise also helps decrease stress and improve sleep quality.
- Try exercising in the fresh air from time to time and breathe.
- Make sure to wash your face after sweaty workouts.
Wear Sunscreen All Year Long
- Sunscreen is a powerful weapon against skin cancer.
- It can also protect against getting a lot of wrinkles as you age.
- Apply sunscreen every day, even during the winter months.
- It is recommended that you use an SPF 30 daily in any kind of weather.
- You should also wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure.
- Don’t use tanning beds or sunlamps because they emit the same harmful UV radiation as the sun.
Check Your Skin for Spots and Blemishes
- Look for new or changing moles, especially if they have unusual shapes or colors.
- Remember that people with darker complexions aren’t exempt from skin cancer.
- Talk to your doctor if you notice any odd changes to your skin.
