Hartford HealthCare and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) have invested in new CT scanners at their Torrington and Winsted locations as part of their continuing commitment to using the very latest in technology to serve patients in the Northwest corner.
“It is wonderful to know that both Torrington and Winsted area residents are able to have access to such advanced state-of-the-art technology without having to leave the community,” said HHC Regional VP of Operations John Capobianco.
The CHH Radiology Department at 540 Litchfield St. recently updated its hospital-based CT scanner with a new GE Revolution HD 750 CT Scanner. The 128-slice, 64-channel technology provides improved image quality and spatial resolution, reduced radiation doses and decreased scan times to better suit patient needs. Besides fast CT scans, CHH expects to significantly increase its exam capacity – which means more patients can receive the treatment they need faster and be referred to surgery or discharged from the hospital.
“The improved technology of this scanner allows us to meet all of the needs of our patients today and gives us the opportunity to expand both in meeting our patient’s future needs and our role as we grow within the Hartford Healthcare network,” said Melissa Jones, lead CT Technologist at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. “A true win–win for all involved.”
The newly opened Hartford HealthCare HealthCenter at 80 South Main Street in Winsted also has a new GE Revolution Evo CT Scanner, similar to the one at CHH, on the main level near the Emergency Department.
“Having the CT on-site allows us to scan the ER patients quicker resulting in a faster diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury,” said Rachel Lanesey, Winsted Lead Radiology Technologist. “We will be scheduling outpatient CT scans as well. This will allow us to perform routine, urgent, follow-up, or medical and surgical planning right here in Winsted.”
CHH provides Northwest Connecticut with the most advanced Radiology services in the area, offering CT scan services at CHH Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
