According to the CDC, about half of all people with diabetes have some form of nerve damage, which can affect nerves in your feet and legs. Nerve damage can cause a loss of feeling in your feet, which can cause infections if you have a wound you don’t notice right away.
Join Mark Tramontozzi, MD, Medical Director of the Backus Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center, as he discusses the importance of diabetics caring for their feet, including what to keep an eye on and when to seek treatment. There will be a live question-and-answer session with the expert following the presentation.
The webinar, Diabetes and Your Feet, will be on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 5-6 p.m. The Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center provides patients in Eastern Connecticut with interdisciplinary and comprehensive treatment for non-healing wounds.
Managing diabetes can be overwhelming, with checking you blood sugar, watching what you eat, staying active and having regular check-ups with your doctor, but you should also practice daily foot care to prevent injuries and infections.
